Imperial Stout

Hellwoods was the very first imperial stout we ever brewed, and one that became an instant classic -- so it's especially nostalgic to come face-to-face with it once again after such a long hiatus. And even though we thoroughly enjoy a barrel aged doozy as much as the next person, drinking this beer again has been a convincing argument for the no bells and whistles stout.

What it smells like, what it tastes like: Hellwoods has morphed over the years from a traditionally bitter, roasty/toasty stout to one that's full bodied and chewy. This year's batch brings notes of chocolate covered raisins, burnt toffee, and black wine gums.
